Building/structure dates: 1925 initial construction
Significance: The St. Lucie Lock No. 2 built by 1925 operated until 1941 when it was superceded by the new lock. It was part of the first efforts by the Corps of Engineers to control drainage and create an interior passage across the peninsula.
